BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced today that improvements to the DOTD Truck Permit Office’s online permitting system will enable customers to purchase annual oversize/overweight permits via credit card beginning March 1.

The upgrade is part of an ongoing initiative to make the truck permitting process more efficient. The automated credit card processing system will allow customers to receive permits online, which speeds up the permitting process and eliminates the need for customers to call and speak with a permit specialist. The system also allows customers to receive permits after business hours and on weekends instead of having to wait until the next business day to speak to a representative. Annual permits available online include:

  • Harvest Season or Natural Forest Products
  • Forest Products
  • Forest Management Equipment
  • Waste Vehicle
  • Refuse/Waste
  • Refuse
  • Timber Cutting/Logging Equipment
  • Yearly Oversize
  • Container Cargo Class 1 and Class 2
  • Liquid Bulk Container
  • Solid Waste
  • Agronomic/Horticultural
  • Cotton Module

Customers will also now be allowed to purchase up to 10 different permits of the same type per transaction rather than one at a time. In addition to the cost of the permits, there will be a $10 state charge assessed per bundle to help defray credit card fees being absorbed by DOTD.
