UPDATE: I-10 open after overhead sign truss removed

METAIRIE, La. — I-10 eastbound is now open after the Louisiana Department of Transportation worked overnight to remove an overhead sign truss near the I-10/ I-610 split.

The overhead sign truss, which spanned across the interstate, was removed due to structural cracks in the welded connections. The cracks were discovered during a routine inspection and it was determined that the overhead truss should be removed before the damage reached a critical point.

DOTD installed temporary guide signs until the overhead sign truss can be replaced in a future project.
