UPDATE AS OF SEPTEMBER 22, 2022: DOTD announces that the La. 1246 (Woodlawn) Bridge is now fully operational to both vehicular and marine traffic. A replacement gearbox was installled yesterday allowing for the bridge to return to normal operations.
UPDATE AS OF SEPTEMBER 16, 2022: Due to the extension of the La. 1246 (Woodlawn) bridge closure, beginning Monday, September 19, the Department will begin operating the bridge manually between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday until the bridge resumes operation under normal power.
Operating the bridge manually means that it will be open to both vehicular and marine traffic during this time period. The following schedule will be in place for bridge operations:
Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. – 8 p.m.: OPEN TO VEHICULAR AND MARINE TRAFFIC
Monday through Friday from 8 p.m. – 6 a.m.: OPEN TO MARINE TRAFFIC ONLY
Saturday and Sunday: OPEN TO MARINE TRAFFIC ONLY
Operating the bridge manually during the week for vehicular and marine traffic will cause delays. Therefore, the Department is requesting patience from the traveling public and apologizes for any inconvenience.
UPDATE: This closure on La. 1246 at Woodlawn Bridge has been extended until September 15, 2022.
VERMILLION PARISH, La. - DOTD announces that effective immedialy La. 1246 at Woodlawn Bridge is closed to vehicular traffic due to mechanical isues.
The bridge will remain open to marine traffic until mecahnical repairs can be made.
DOTD apologizes for any inconvenicen to the traveling public.
