UPDATE: DOTD announces emergency closure of LA 431 bridge over Black Bayou

**UPDATE: The LA 431 bridge over Black Bayou is now open for thru traffic.**
Ascension Parish- The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that the LA 431 bridge over Black Bayou in St. Amant will remain closed for thru traffic. The bridge was immediately closed on Sunday, June 26, due to a sinkhole that formed on the abutment of the bridge.
Bridge inspectors will be evaluating the damage more extensively to determine the extent of the repairs. A timeline will be provided once this has been evaluated.
Commuters may detour LA 935 to LA 22 then travel LA 429.
