Friday, May 13, 2022 at 8:39:39 AM
NEW ORLEANS — The Senator Ted Hickey Bridge (Seabrook Bridge) is expected to reopen within the next six weeks, weather permitting.

Tuesday night, the bridge closed for emergency repairs because of a mechanical issue with the locking mechanism that holds the span in place during normal vehicle traffic. Currently, the replacement bridge components are being manufactured offsite.

While the bridge is closed, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development maintenance crews are cleaning storm drains on the bridge spans and approaches.

Marine traffic will remain open.
