THE LA 655 RITA SWING BRIDGE IS BACK TO NORMAL OPERATIONS.

March 31, 2022

The Rita Swing Bridge on LA 655 crossing Bayou Lafourche in Lockport, LA will be closed to vehicular traffic at 9:00 a.m. on Monday April 4, 2022 until further notice in order to allow DOTD Bridge Maintenance crews to perform repairs to the mechanical jacking system needed to stabilize the bridge in the closed position. The bridge will remain swung open for marine vessel traffic and closed to vehicular traffic continuously until all repairs are completed.

Alternate routes around the bridge closure are as follows:

• The LA 654 bridge (a.k.a. Champagne-Harrelson or Gheens Bridge) approximately 2 miles north of Lockport, LA
• The LA 3220 bridge (a.k.a. Belle Vue or Bollinger Bridge) approximately 1.5 miles south of Lockport, LA
