CALCASIEU PARISH, La. - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development, in coordination with the U.S. Coast Guard, announces that beginning Sunday, March 6, at 3 p.m., a manual bridge operation schedule will be implemented at the Black Bayou Bridge and Grand Lake Bridge.

The schedule is necessary to accommodate both vehicular and marine traffic, as both bridges are currently experiencing mechanical issues.

The schedule will be as follows:

When one bridge is open to vehicle traffic, the other bridge will be open to marine traffic (closed to vehicles). This schedule will provide 24-hour access to residents while also restoring marine vessel transportation along the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway.

Message boards will be in place at each bridge to advise motorists of the allotted times for vehicle traffic.

This schedule will remain in effect until further notice.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
