Fort Buhlow Bridge Project Update
Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 3:02:12 PM

The Fort Buhlow Project has progressed very well. Crews have been working on the footings, columns and caps for the northbound and southbound lanes of the new bridge. The project is about 13% complete with an estimated completion date of January, 2014.

On the Alexandria side of the bridge, the prime contractor, Jensen Construction Co., has begun to dig out dirt and other materials from inside the cofferdam at Pier No. 14 so that they can begin driving 24-inch steel piles.

On the Pineville side of the bridge, the subcontractor, Diamond B Construction Co. is laying pipes and doing dirt work and foundation work on the relocated Graham Road and 3rd Street.  Also, Diamond B will be laying pipe and proceeding with the dirt work for the relocated Rainbow Drive. Jensen Construction Company has driven sheet piles for the bridge and completed two 14-inch test piles and digging for the cofferdam at Pier No. 15 begun last week.
