BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced today that drivers are now able to access up-to-date traffic information via new traffic cameras installed on I-10 and I-49 in the Lafayette region.

DOTD has installed cameras on I-10 at Louisiana Avenue, I-10 at Breaux Bridge, I-10 at La. 347, I-10 near Henderson, I-10 mid-span on the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge, I-10 near Ramah, I-49 at North University Avenue and I-49 at La. 93.

The new traffic cameras are a part of an Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) project to facilitate better communication among drivers, traffic operations staff, emergency response personnel and other agencies about existing roadway conditions.

The cameras, which are available through the 511 Traveler Information Service at, will allow drivers to view traffic conditions and make pre-trip decisions on which route they should take to avoid potential traffic delays.
