DOTD to hold public hearing on proposed La. 42 widening project in Ascension Parish

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LDOTD) will hold an Open House Public Hearing at the following time and place:

Tuesday, June 28, 2011
4:00p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Oak Grove Primary School
17550 Old Jefferson Highway
Prairieville, Louisiana

LDOTD, in conjunction with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), proposes to widen and improve a 3.7-mile portion of LA 42 from US 61 to approximately 1,500 feet east of LA 44 in Ascension Parish. An Environmental Assessment (EA) was prepared to study alternatives for widening LA 42 from two lanes to four lanes.

Informational materials will be distributed and graphic displays will be available for viewing. LDOTD representatives will be present to answer questions. A continuous presentation will be shown describing the project, alternatives studied, and impacts from the project, including wetlands and acquisition of right-of-way and relocation assistance. Verbal comments will be recorded and written comments will be accepted. Written statements can also be mailed to the address shown below. Statements postmarked within 10 days of this hearing will become part of the transcript of the hearing.

Copies are available for public review at the following locations: Ascension Parish Library Headquarters, 708 South Irma Blvd, Gonzales; Galvez Library, 40300 Hwy. 42, Prairieville; Dutchtown Library, 13278 Highway 73, Geismar; LDOTD Environmental Section Office, 1201 Capitol Access Road, Room 502P, Baton Rouge; FHWA Office, 5304 Flanders Drive, Suite A, Baton Rouge. The EA can also be reviewed and/or purchased at the LDOTD District 61 office at 8100 Airline Hwy in Baton Rouge.
