The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) announces that beginning Monday, October 25, work will begin on a $2,636,731.47 project to elevate LA 70, approximately two feet at its section from southeast of its junction with Cypress Cove St. to north of its junction with Rabbit Run (7.75 miles of LA 997 to 8.83 miles south of LA 997) to eliminate flooding in that section.
Work will consist of milling asphalt paving, embankment, limestone base course, asphalt concrete paving, drainage structures and related work.
Work is expected to take place Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., weather permitting.
Intermittent lane closures will be necessary to perform the work in this area; therefore, drivers should expect some delays.
Emergency vehicles will have access on the highway.
This project is estimated for completion in February 2022.
DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
