UPDATE: NOW OPEN: Emergency repair work scheduled today for La. 1 West Baton Rouge Parish

***UPDATE: The outside southbound lane is now open to thru traffic.***

Baton Rouge- The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that the right/outside southbound lane on the LA 1 Intracoastal Bridge will be closed for an emergency repair beginning Tuesday, Sept. 14. This closure is necessary to install a steel cover plate over a failing joint on the bridge. The plate will have a rubber ramp to help create a smoother transition. It is unknown how long the lane closure will last.

The cover plate will be temporary until the weather conditions improve to allow crews to make permanent repairs.
