Houma- The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that numerous movable bridges in the impacted areas from Hurricane Ida have sustained significant damage.

Once conditions were safe, bridge inspectors were on site evaluating all movable bridges to determine safety and operational ability. Among the damaged bridges is the Houma Navigational Bridge on LA 661 and the Dularge Bridge on LA 315.

The Houma Navigational Bridge electrical system was submerged during the storm and sustained severe electrical system problems and is closed to marine and vehicular traffic. The Dularge Bridge’s operator house has extensive wind and water damage, as well as electrical system damage. This bridge is open to vehicular traffic and to marine vessel under 50 feet. There are crews on site to asses both bridges and determine repairs needed.

DOTD appreciates your patience as crews work to inspect all bridges in the impacted areas. The status of all movable bridges throughout the state can be viewed here. This shows which bridges are open and closed to marine and vehicular traffic.

Motorists can check www.511la.org or dial 511 to remain up-to-date on the latest closures. Out-of-state travelers can access the system by calling 1-888-ROAD-511 (1-888-762-3511 ).
