NORTH SHERWOOD FOREST DRIVE WIDENING
(FROM SOUTH CHOCTAW DRIVE TO GREENWELL SPRINGS ROAD)

The East Baton Rouge City/Parish Government, along with Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) propose to improve North Sherwood Forest Drive. The proposed improvements include widening the existing two-lane roadway from South Choctaw Drive to Greenwell Springs Road to a five-lane urban concrete section with subsurface drainage.

The Public Hearing will be held on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. The location of the Public Hearing is the conference room at the Baton Rouge Recreation and Park Commission’s North Sherwood Forest Family Center at 3140 North Sherwood Forest Drive. Signs directing the public to the meeting room will be provided the day of the Hearing.

A Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) was prepared that addresses the environmental and socioeconomic impacts of the proposed project and discusses impacts to Section 4(f) resources. This EA is available for review and/or purchase at the Department’s District 61 office, at 8100 Airline Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70815. Copies of this document will be made available upon request at the expense of the person requesting this information, and at a cost equal to the Department’s cost of reproduction. The EA is available for review at the FHWA Division Office at 5304 Flanders Drive, Suite A, Baton Rouge, and at LADOTD, 1201 Capitol Access Road, Room 504D, Baton Rouge, LA. The EA is also available for review at the Greenwell Springs Road Regional Branch Library at 11300 Greenwell Springs Rd. The EA can also be accessed online at http://www.dotd.la.gov/planning/environ/.

The public is invited to attend and ask questions or provide comments regarding the proposed improvements. Information regarding the proposed improvements, major design features and impacts will be presented along with information on right-of-way acquisition procedures. Comments can either be made orally during the Public Hearing or in writing on comment forms made available at the Public Hearing. All public written comments that are mailed in must be postmarked by February 25, 2011.
