STATE AND FEDERAL AID PROJECT NO. H002264/H.004420
LA 302: BAYOU BARTARIA BRIDGE REPLACEMENT
JEFFERSON PARISH
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD) is conducting an open house public meeting for the proposed LA 302: Bayou Barataria Bridge Replacement project. The proposed project is to replace Bayou Barataria Bridge (a.k.a. Kerner Ferry Bridge) (Structure No 022608263900071, Recall No. 000810) (Lat. 29.732910, Long. -90.128300 DD) in Jefferson Parish. The bridge carries two lanes of route LA 302 across Bayou Barataria joining LA 45 (Jean Lafitte Boulevard) on the east bank with LA 3257 (Privateer Boulevard) on the west bank. The structure, built in 1948, is a steel low swing Warren Polygonal truss and has been determined eligible for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) under Criterion C for engineering. There will be a continuous multi-media presentation about the project. Additional scope for the proposed project includes improvements to LA 45 to increase the elevation of the roadway. Representatives from LADOTD will be available at the open house to answer questions and discuss issues related to the project. Verbal and written comments on the project can be submitted at the meeting. Comments can also be mailed to the LADOTD address shown below, postmarked by August 19, 2021. In addition to the open house a virtual public meeting will be held exclusively online for fourteen (14) days from August 6th to August 20th and will allow participants to view a narrated multimedia presentation, project exhibits, and submit comments or questions.
The virtual public meeting can be accessed via the LADOTD Environmental Section webpage:
