BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), in conjunction with the Federal Highway Administration, will conduct a public hearing for a proposed project to improve the connection between Kansas Lane and Garrett Road in Monroe on Thursday, Dec. 16 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Monroe City Council Chambers, located at 400 Lea Joyner Expressway in Monroe.

The hearing is being held to give residents the opportunity to learn more about the proposed project. Representatives of DOTD will be present to receive comments and answer any questions. All interested parties are invited and encouraged to attend.

The proposed project will improve the connectivity between Kansas Lane and Garrett Road in the vicinity of their intersections with La. 594 (Millhaven Road). The alternatives under consideration include a grade-separated crossing of the Kansas City Southern Railroad (KCS) at Millhaven Road, widening the Garrett Road overpass at I-20 and its approaches to four lanes, and reconfiguring the I-20 Garrett Road entrance and exit ramps to help improve traffic flow in and around the interchange.

Materials and displays describing the project, alternatives studied, and potential environmental and social impacts will be available at the hearing. Verbal comments related to the project will be recorded at the hearing. Written comments will also be accepted at the hearing, or can be mailed to the address below.

Anyone who requires special assistance due to a disability and wishes to participate in this public hearing should contact DOTD by mail at the address shown below or by telephone at 225-242-4502 at least five days prior to the date of the open house.
