Baton Rouge- The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that the Bayou Manchac Bridge on LA 427 (Old Perkins Rd.) in East Baton Rouge Parish is now open to thru traffic. Today, crews were able to inspect the structural integrity of the bridge and it has been deemed safe for motorists.

The inspection was delayed due to the high water on Bayou Manchac, making the underside of the bridge deck inaccessible to DOTD bridge inspection personnel. Contract Inspection Divers were hired as soon as they were available to perform the bridge inspection. DOTD appreciates the public’s patience during this closure.
