DOTD to replacement pavement markings on section of I-49 north in Caddo Parish
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces a $1 million project to replace the pavement markings on a section of I-49 north in Caddo Parish.
The project is expected to begin in mid-June 2021 and extends from LA 530 near Belcher to the Arkansas state line.
Work includes the removal and replacement of all the reflectorized raised pavement markings, pavement striping, and other related work on the mainline of the interstate (over 18 miles of roadway), as well as all of the on and off-ramps.
Motorists should be aware that crews will be conducting rolling lane closures, which are slow moving operations. Some full intermittent ramp closures may also be required during portions of the project.
Pavement markings are used to convey messages to roadway users. They indicate which part of the road to use, provide information about conditions ahead, and indicate where passing is allowed. Pavement markings provide continuous information to motorists related to roadway alignment, vehicle positioning, and other important driving-related tasks.
The entire project is anticipated to be complete in late Summer 2021, with progress dependent on weather conditions.
