The recently published BDTM.102 Use of Round Guard Rail Posts has been revised. Revision BDTM.102.1 has been published as follows:

Please be advised that the following Bridge Design Technical Memorandum (BDTM) has been approved by the Bridge Design Engineer Administrator and published on the DOTD Bridge Design Section website for implementation at:

The BDTM index has been updated and posted as well.

BDTM.102.1 – Use of Round Guard Rail Posts - REVISED

Summary:

This BDTM allows round timber posts to be substituted for rectangular timber posts and W6x9 steel posts and provides the requirements when making these substitutions.

The revision adds that the substitution will only occur if initiated by the Contractor via proposal.

This email notification and BDTM are distributed to all DOTD in-house and consultant bridge designers.

This email notification is copied to those copied on the BDTM, and to Consultant Contracts Services staff in order to distribute the e-mail and BDTM to consultant firms on the DOTD solicitation list. If you are listed as the Principle-In-Charge for a consultant firm, please inform your design staff of this BDTM. Thank you.
