DENHAM SPRINGS, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced today that it will construct a one-span bridge on La. 1026 (Juban Road) to replace the two 80-inch metal cross drains that collapsed Friday between La. 16 and Spillers Ranch Road.

The replacement bridge, which will cost approximately $110,000, should be completed by the middle of next week, depending on weather conditions. Yesterday, DOTD district crews finished removing the collapsed cross drains, which were constructed in 1962, and today they began driving piles for the new bridge.

DOTD closed the road Friday afternoon after the road above the cross drains began to give way. Automobile traffic is being detoured via La. 16 and U.S. 190 or La. 16 to La. 447 to I-12.
