BATON ROUGE, La – Drainage along Perkins Road and Bluebonnet Boulevard gets an upgrade as the Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) installs an 84-inch concrete pipe underneath Perkins Road at its intersection with Bluebonnet Boulevard starting Feb. 4.

The improvements come with some traffic delays as lanes will shift during the installation of the 84-inch pipe, but the intersection will remain open throughout the construction. The massive pipe replaces a 60-inch pipe and connects the new drainage system to an existing half-mile long 84-inch pipe that carries water along Bluebonnet to Dawson Creek. The larger pipe increases the capacity of drainage in the Perkins and Bluebonnet area.

Drivers should use caution while traveling through the area.  The construction work and subsequent lane closures are subject to postponement in the event of adverse weather.

Throughout the project, the DOTD Customer Service Center will provide e-mail updates on the project’s progress as well as a call center for questions and concerns regarding the project.
