REMINDER: DOTD converting intersection of LA 145 and US 80 in Lincoln Parish to four-way stop

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development would like to remind motorists that the intersection of LA 145 and US 80 in the Village of Choudrant, Lincoln Parish is being converted from a two-way stop to a four-way stop today, Tuesday, February 23, 2021.

DOTD is also modifying the striping, signage, and the flashing beacon in conjunction with the change at the intersection.

This conversion to a four-way stop comes as a result of a request for a traffic engineering study at the intersection, which showed that a four-way stop has the potential to reduce crashes and improve safety.

As a reminder, when approaching a 4-way top, the first vehicle to arrive has the right-of-way. However, motorists should always yield to approaching emergency vehicles.

When two vehicles arrive at the intersection at the same time, the vehicle to the right has the right-of-way. When two vehicles approach at the same time head-to-head and one is turning, the vehicle going straight has the right-of-way. In the same scenario, if one vehicle is turning right and one is turning left, the right turning vehicle has the right-of-way.
