The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is conducting a public hearing on the proposed relocation of a portion of La. 1138-2 (West Prien Lake Road) from just west of the Contraband Bayou Bridge to Nelson Road/L’Auberge Boulevard. A separate plan for widening the existing bridge across Contraband Bayou along with the widening of La. 1138-2 eastward from the bridge to Lake Street will also be considered. The project is being proposed in conjunction with the City of Lake Charles and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) as the lead federal agency.
Detailed information relative to the proposed project is available through copies of the Environmental Assesment (EA). The EA is available for review and/or purchase at the DOTD District 7 Office at 5827 U.S. Highway 90 East, Lake Charles, LA 70615. All interested persons are invited and encouraged to attend this hearing. Representatives of DOTD and the project team will be present to provide information about the location, major design features of the roadway, environmental and other impacts of the project, and the relocation assistance program. The hearing will include a brief presentation describing the proposed project. Oral comments will be received. Written statements and comments should be handed in to the DOTD official conducting the hearing, or can be mailed to the following address:
