Plaquemine ferry closed this coming weekend

Baton Rouge - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced today that the Plaquemine ferry will be out of service this coming weekend on Friday, December 25 through Sunday, December 27. The closure is due to the continued staffing shortages related to COVID-19.

The ferry is scheduled to reopen on Monday, December 28, and will operate on its current weekday split schedule, which is 4:30 am to 10:00 am and 2:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

DOTD appreciates your patience during this time. Motorists are encouraged to check the status of road conditions statewide prior to beginning commutes by visiting the 511 Traveler Information website at www.511la.org or by dialing 511 from their telephone and saying the route or region about which they are seeking information. Out-of-state travelers can access the system by calling 1-888-ROAD-511 (1-888-762-3511).
