DOTD provides update on the southernmost bridge replacement on LA 27 in Calcasieu Parish

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that work on the southernmost bridge replacement on LA 27 (Beglis Parkway) is progressing.

Crews are removing the existing structure and preparing to install the new bridge deck on the southernmost bridge. Crews recently completed laying asphalt for the approaches at the northernmost bridge.

Due to the ongoing statewide hurricane recovery efforts, this project is now expected to be complete in the Spring of 2021. We anticipate having the southernmost bridge reopened to traffic early next year. Crews will install new guardrails and lay asphalt at the approaches after the bridge replacement is complete and when weather permits asphalt work. All dates and activities are dependent on weather conditions.

Crews have completed the removal and replacement of the northernmost bridge, and it is open to traffic.

Motorists may continue to use I-10, LA 1256, and LA 108 to detour. Message signs are on LA 27 to advise drivers of the closure and the detour.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through work zones and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
