DOTD announces results of Sept. 27 bid letting

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) considered bids totaling over $132 million at its Sept. 27 public bid opening, according to Gov. Kathleen Blanco and DOTD Secretary Johnny B. Bradberry.

With a bid of $38,393,637.16, Diamond B Construction Co. LLC, Alexandria, was the apparent low bidder on the state’s most expensive job, a project in Rapides Parish calling for grading, drainage structures, lime treatment, class II base course, superpave, Portland cement concrete pavement, concrete slab span bridge, traffic signalization and related work on U.S. 165 from Glenmora to Woodworth.

Other projects by parish(es), description, apparent low bidder and bid are as follows:

Allen – Grading, drainage structures, lime treatment, subgrade layer, class II base course, superpave, Portland cement concrete pavement, concrete slab span bridge and related work on U.S. 165 from Kinder to Oberlin, Gilchrist Construction Co. LLC, Alexandria, $32,350,026.30.

Bossier – Grading, drainage structures, superpave, Portland cement concrete pavement, bridge widening, traffic signalization and related work on Interstate 20 for Industrial Drive and Frontage Road improvements, F.J. Burnell Inc., Shreveport, $3,893,616.94.

Caddo – Grading, pavement patching, superpave and related work on La. 511 from Pines Road to Buncombe Road, Best-Yet Builders LLC, Shreveport, $433,198.95.

Calcasieu – Grading, drainage structures, class II base course, Portland cement concrete pavement and related work on Interstate 10 Frontage Roads across First Avenue Railroad, John Bailey Inc., Sulphur, $312,838.25.

Calcasieu – Cold planing, superpave, pavement patching and related work on La. 14 from La. 397 to La. 3092, Bessette Development Corp., Lake Charles, $595,290.24.

Jefferson, OrleansTraffic signalization and related work on U.S. 90 and La. 3154 for Jefferson Highway and Harahan signal improvements, Jack B. Harper Contractor Inc., Mandeville, $1,963,884.

Jefferson – Concrete panel replacement and related work on the westbound side of West Esplanade Avenue, Barriere Construction Co. LLC, Boutte, $3,156,677.25.

Jefferson – Concrete panel replacement and related work on the eastbound side of West Esplanade Avenue, Barriere Construction Co. LLC, Boutte, $2,111,600.50.

Orleans – Cleaning, painting and waste disposal on all three ramps of the Claiborne interchange and the Pontchartrain Expressway (U.S. 190) overpass over South Claiborne Avenue from the west abutment to South Liberty Street, Hames Contracting Inc., Alpharetta, Ga., $5,900.000.

St. Landry – Superpave, patching with a two-course asphaltic surface treatment interlayer, in-place cement stabilized base course, cold planing, overlay and related work on La. 10 and La. 3253 from Bayou Carron Bridge to Bayou Courtableu Bridge, Gilchrist Construction Co. LLC, Alexandria, $1,099,459.30.

St. Martin – Building renovations, HVAC installation and related work on the welcome center at Butte La Rose, Block Construction LLC, Baton Rouge, $315,394.

District 03 – Remove and repair damaged guard rails in District 03, United Rentals Highway Technologies Inc., Baton Rouge, $322,730.

District 04 – Retainer contract to remove and replace damaged guard rail, breakway cable terminal assemblies and guardrail end treatment as a result of vehicular damage, Alpha Service and Products Inc., Frierson, $476,195.

District 62 – Remove and repair damaged guard rails in District 62, Traffic Solutions Inc., Mandeville, $252,538.

Statewide – Retainer contract for repair of damaged impact attenuators around the state, Jack B. Harper Contractor Inc., Mandeville, $1,598,736.
