BATON ROUGE, La. – By noon Friday, drivers on Siegen Lane can get to Bluebonnet Boulevard on a new westbound frontage road along Interstate 10 in Baton Rouge.

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) and contractor crews are working overnight to open the new westbound Siegen-to-Bluebonnet frontage road by noon Friday. Drivers can access the frontage road by turning onto the I-10 West entrance from Siegen and staying to the right to take the new frontage road instead of the interstate.

Drivers who entered I-10 west from Siegen have been unable to exit at Bluebonnet since Wednesday because of construction on the I-10 Picardy project. Drivers still will not be able to get to Bluebonnet from Siegen via the interstate, but the frontage road opening will give drivers a direct route to Bluebonnet.

The construction activity is a result of DOTD’s work to finish the I-10 Picardy project. That project, which will have two-lane frontage roads on both sides of the interstate and an overpass directly to the Mall of Louisiana, is ahead of schedule and will be completed by November 2.

Part of the construction activity includes a new I-10 westbound Bluebonnet exit located just after the Siegen Lane overpass. Crews had to close the old exit to finish construction on the Picardy project. 

Until the frontage road opens, drivers on Siegen must take Perkins Road or Jefferson Highway via Airline Highway to get to Bluebonnet.
