BATON ROUGE, La. – Residents of Washington and St. Tammany parishes have until Sunday, Feb. 5, to have storm debris collected from state road rights-of-way.

Freddie Gardner, program manager for the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), said the departmentn’s contractor, DRC Inc. LLC, will collect all debris from state roads within state rights-of-way through the deadline.

“It’s very important that residents adhere to this date for placing storm debris beside the road because that’s the deadline set by FEMA, and we all want to see our roads safe and clean,” Gardner said.

He added that the pickup is only for storm debris, not regular household garbage.

The final sweep started Dec. 7 and was scheduled to end Jan. 5, but FEMA extended its funding an additional month because of the volume of debris.
