LAFAYETTE, La. - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that beginning September 14, 2020, construction will begin on a $5.89 million project to rehabilitate La. 3073 (Ambassador Caffery) from its junction with U.S. 167 (Johnston St.) to Kaliste Saloom Rd. in Lafayette Parish. This project will include concrete roadway patching, curb and gutter repairs, joint sealing, drainage structure replacements, sidewalk and driveway replacements, and related work.

The project is divided into three sections (Johnston St. to Robley Dr., Robley Dr. to the Vermilion River, and the Vermilion River to Kaliste Saloom Rd.). Closure of any travel lanes to perform work will be limited to one section at a time to limit impacts to the travelling public and local businesses.

Work will take place at night on Mondays – Thursdays from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Daytime and nighttime work will take place on weekends, beginning Friday evenings at 8:00 p.m., extending continuously through 6:00 a.m. on Monday mornings, weather permitting.

Drivers can expect alternating lane closures throughout the project. Periodic lane closures are required to perform pavement patching within the roadway and to facilitate the replacement of concrete sidewalks and driveways.
There will be 12-foot lane restrictions throughout the project during working hours. Emergency vehicles will have access to this area, but may encounter delays.

The project is estimated to be completed by winter 2022.

DOTD appreciates your patience. Please drive with caution through the construction site and be attentive to work crews and their equipment.
