DOTD announces results of Oct. 12, 2005, bid letting

BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development considered bids totaling over $53 million at its Oct. 12 public bid opening, according to Governor Kathleen Blanco and DOTD Secretary Johnny B. Bradberry.

With a bid of $36,972,254.14, Jensen Construction Co., Tulsa, Okla., was the apparent low bidder on the state’s most expensive job, a project in Ouachita and Union parishes calling for grading, cold planing asphaltic pavement, drainage structures, lime treatment, class II base course, superpave asphaltic concrete pavement, cofferdams, pre-cast pre-stressed concrete span and steel plate girder span bridge, traffic signalization and related work on La. 2 for the Ouachita River Bridge at Sterlington.

Other projects by parish(es), description, apparent low bidder and bid are as follows:

Allen – Grading, subgrade layer, class II base course, superpave asphaltic concrete pavement, superpave asphaltic concrete overlay and related work on U.S. 165 for the left and right hand turn lanes on Pawnee Road, Diamond B Construction Co. LLC, Alexandria, $816,175.72.

Caddo – Reflectorized raised pavement markers, plastic pavement striping and related work for turn lane modifications on La. 173, Pavement Markings Co., Mandeville, $79,348.50.

Jefferson Davis – Grading, pavement patching, cold planing asphaltic concrete, superpave asphaltic concrete overlay and related work on U.S. 90 from La. 99 to La. 26, R.E. Heidt Construction Co. Inc., Westlake, $2,496,916.95.

Morehouse – Grading, drainage structures, cold planing asphaltic pavement, cement treated base course, superpave asphaltic concrete pavement, Portland cement concrete drives and related work on La. 133 from the junction of La. 134 to 4.741 miles north (toward Mer Rouge), D & J Construction Co. Inc., West Monroe, $1,917,048.67.

St. Helena – Grading, cold planing asphaltic concrete, drainage structures, superpave asphaltic concrete overlay and related work on La. 38 from La. 43 to the Tangipahoa Parish line, Diamond B Construction Co. LLC, Alexandria, $1,640,780.54.

Tangipahoa – Grading, drainage structures, class II base course, superpave asphaltic concrete pavement, concrete slab span bridge and related work on La. 10 at the Big Creek Bridge, Boh Bros. Construction Co. LLC, New Orleans, $1,849,901.86.

WashingtonGrading, drainage structures, cold planing asphaltic concrete, cement treated base course, superpave asphaltic concrete pavement and related work on La. 438 and La. 438-S from the junction of La. 430 to the Mississippi state line, Covington Paving Co., Covington, $699,288.84.
