Intersection improvements project at LA 385/LA 384 nearing completion in Calcasieu Parish

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that the $2 million improvements project at the intersection of LA 385 (Ryan Street) and LA 384 (University Drive) in Calcasieu Parish is nearing completion.

The contractor has completed the widening for the new left turn lane on LA 385, the mill and overlay of LA 385 and the construction of new travel lanes and left turn lanes on LA 384. Drivers can continue to expect intermittent closures while crews install permanent striping, finish driveway and sidewalk work, and continue work on the pedestrian crossing signals at the intersection.

Once complete, motorists will be to perform a left turn from LA 385 without impacting southbound traffic. The new left turn lane combined with the LA 385 resurfacing and the reconfiguration and reconstruction of LA 384 will provide a safer and more efficient intersection. The project is anticipated to be complete late August 2020. All dates and activity are weather dependent.
