Secretary Bradberry presents the Secretary's Award of Excellence.

Hammond – Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development Secretary Johnny B. Bradberry presented two District 62 employees with the Secretary’s Award of Excellence Thursday, Aug. 18, for the quarter ending June 30.

Joyce L. Stevens and Travis R. Puls received a framed certificate along with a coin bearing the department’s insignia and the State Seal. Each employee will also receive a $250 cash award.

On behalf of Secretary Bradberry, the headquarters Employee Recognition Committee unanimously approved both nominees, which were forwarded by the District 62 Employee Recognition Committee. The award is based on employees exhibiting outstanding qualities, such as personal commitment to their job and DOTD, initiative and remarkable work performance and behavior.  

Stevens works as an accounting specialist 2 in the Hammond District office.  For almost three months, she not only performed her normal job duties in a timely manner, but also carried out the duties of administrative assistant to the District 62 administrator with dedication and commitment. Additionally, Stevens assists on the district switchboard and is always willing to help the business office to ensure the work flows smoothly. 

Puls is an engineer technician 4 in the Hammond District office. He is highly motivated, conscientious and dependable.  Puls designed successful turn-lane and overlay projects that contributed an increase in public confidence in the district. He is also willing to do various tasks to help the design section function effectively and efficiently despite some tasks being outside his job description.

Nomination deadlines for quarterly awards are the first Friday the week after the quarter ending date for the months of March 31, June 30, Sept. 30 and Dec. 31.  For example, the nomination deadline for the quarter ending Sept. 30 will be Friday, Oct. 7. The Secretary’s Award of Excellence may be given out quarterly or annually. Quarterly awards include Employee of the Quarter, Manager of the Quarter and Best Team Effort of the Quarter.
