The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that beginning August 12, construction will begin on a $4.7 million project to resurface LA 96 from LA 182 (Broussard) to 0.56 miles west of LA 31 (St. Martinville) in St. Martin Parish. The project will include new drainage structures, milling asphaltic concrete, asphalt overlay, rumble strips, striping, and related work.

The work is estimated to take place Mondays through Fridays from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., weather permitting.

Drivers can expect intermittent lane closures and periodic road closures during the project. The periodic road closures are required to install drainage structures across the roadway. The Department will publish press releases for each road closure event and detour routes will be posted.

Emergency vehicles will have access to this area, except during planned road closure events which will be announced.

The project is estimated to be complete in March 2021.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction site and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
