DOTD Announces Results of June 29, 2005, Bid Letting

BATON ROUGE – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) considered bids totaling over $278 million at its June 29 public bid opening, according to Governor Kathleen Blanco and DOTD Secretary Johnny B. Bradberry.

With a bid of $16,049,911.13, Gilchrist Construction Co. LLC, Alexandria, was the apparent low bidder on the state’s most expensive job, a project in Caldwell Parish calling for grading, drainage structures, lime treatment, subgrade layer, base course, superpave asphaltic concrete pavement, Portland cement concrete pavement and related work on U.S. 165 from Columbia to La. 847.

Other projects by parish(es), description, apparent low bidder and bid are as follows:

Caddo – Remove and reconstruct pit scales and related work on I-20 for the Greenwood pit scale renovation and rehab, Best-Yet Builders, LLC, Shreveport, $510,355.20.

Calcasieu – Full depth patching of jointed concrete pavement, concrete curb, temporary signs and barricades, mobilization, construction layout and related work on La. 397 from U.S. 90 to I-10, Hard Rock Construction Co., Metairie, $283,212.60.

Claiborne – Asphalt surface treatment, striping, signs and barricades and mobilization on La. 520 from the junction of U.S. 79 to mile marker 5.960, P. R. Parker Company Inc, Shreveport, $214,025.49.

Desoto – Asphalt surface treatment, mobilization, signs and barricades, patching and striping on La. 175 from La. 509 to La. 5, W. R. Core, LLC., Folsom, $691,729.30.

FranklinPavement patching, superpave asphaltic concrete overlay and related work on La. 875 from La. 562 to Robert Ferrington Road, D & J Construction Co. Inc., West Monroe, $379,879.92.

JeffersonReplace traffic signal lenses and related work for Jefferson Parish traffic signal upgrades, Jack B. Harper Contractor, Inc., Mandeville, $464,163.00.

Cold planing, superpave asphaltic concrete overlay, roadway reinforcing mesh and related work for the Manhattan Boulevard overlay from Eleventh Street to Gretna Boulevard, Boh Bros. Construction Co., LLC., New Orleans, $1,353,924.70.

Jefferson Davis – Grading, pavement patching, superpave asphaltic concrete overlay and related work on La. 3258 from U.S. 165 to the I-10 service road, R.E. Heidt Construction Co., Inc., Westlake, $243,254.73.

Drainage structures, lime treatment, class II base course, Portland cement concrete pavement, pre-cast arch bridge spans and related work on a continuous turn lane for La. 97, Denton-James LLC, Baton Rouge, $1,536,823.48.

Jefferson, OrleansTraffic signalization and related work for signal improvements to the intersection of Metairie Road and Veterans Highway, Jack B. Harper Contractor, Inc., Mandeville, $994,712.14.

Lincoln, Jackson, West Carroll and Morehouse – Asphaltic surface treatment, temporary signs and barricades, reflectorized raised pavement markers, thermoplastic pavement striping and related work for District 05 contract maintenance on La. 818, La. 155, La. 582, La. 877 and La. 830-3, Dreher Contracting, Inc., Bastrop, $375,431.25.

MadisonCleaning and sealing random cracks on U.S. 65 from five miles north of U.S. 80 to the East Carroll Parish line, Forby Contracting, Inc., Hinckley, MN, $52,387.10.

            St. James – Contract maintenance calling for concrete patching on I-10 in St. James parish from the Ascension parish line to the St. John Parish line, Hard Rock Construction Co., Metairie, $180,800.00.

            St. JohnGrading, cold planing, cement treated base course, superpave asphaltic concrete overlay and related work on La. 640 from La. 18 to La. 3127, Barriere Construction Co., LLC, Boutte, $712,611.10.

            Terrebonne – Contract maintenance calling for chip seal and striping on La. 58 from La. 56 to La. 55, W.R. Core, LLC, Folsom, $77,976.00.

            Winn – Expansion joint construction for contract maintenance on U.S. 167 for the white-topping repair, Forby Contracting, Inc., Hinckley, MN, $93,964.00.

            District 02 – Repair and replacement of guardrails and related work in District 02, Traffic Solutions, Inc., New Orleans, $258,412.64.

            District 61 – Retainer contract for repair and replacement of guardrails and related work in District 61, United Rentals Highway Technologies Inc, Baton Rouge, $260,790.00.
