Abita Springs Intersection Improvements
LA 59 & LA 36
St. Tammany Parish

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development proposes to improve the intersections of LA 59 and LA 36 within Abita Springs. The current intersection consists of LA 59, LA 36, Level Street , Maple Street , and a local road. These intersections are controlled by traffic signals. Large trucks currently have difficulty making turns at this intersection.

The proposed improvement consists of a roundabout. The roundabout will provide more fluid traffic flow for these two intersections. All traffic flow into the roundabout will be one-way to the right. The anticipated traffic speed of the roundabout will be 15-20 miles per hour. An apron will be included to accommodate heavy trucks and other commercial vehicles (such as school buses). Pedestrian access will also be included.

The purpose of this Public Meeting will be to present and explain the project purpose and need, explain the proposed roundabout, and to solicit input from the public.

Following the presentation, representatives of DOTD will be available to receive comments and answer questions related to this project. All interested citizens are invited and encouraged to attend.
