BATON ROUGE - The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) considered bids totaling over $18 million at its March 31 public bid opening, according to Gov. Kathleen Blanco and DOTD Secretary Johnny B. Bradberry.

            With a bid of $3,391,374.05, Amethyst Construction Inc., West Monroe, was the apparent low bidder on the state’s most expensive job, a project in West Carroll Parish calling for grading, drainage, cold planing, cleaning and resealing existing pavement joints, superpave, concrete pavement, traffic signal system,  and related work on LA 2 from LA 879 eastward 1.5 miles.

            Other projects by parish (es), description, apparent low bidder and bid are as follows:

            Calcasieu – Iowa Sidewalk Program includes concrete walks, drainage, and related work at various points around the town of Iowa, RMK Construction Co., LLC, Deridder, $150,811.60.

            Cameron, Calcasieu – Grading, cold planing, superpave, ultrathin HMAC wearing course, and related work on LA 27 from LA 384 northward approximately 4.38 miles to LA 397, Prairie Contractors, Inc., Opelousas, $648,266.21.

            Desoto – Grading, drainage, superpave, and related work on LA 175 from the Kansas City Southern Railroad Crossing northward approximately 4.65 miles to the Caddo Parish line, Madden Contracting Co., Inc., Minden, $1,201,592,98.     

            East Baton Rouge – Phase I of the River Road Levee Bicycle/ Pedestrian Trail includes grading, base course, superpave, concrete walkway, fencing, lighting, pedestrian bridge, cattle shelter, and related work on the River Road levee from approximately .23 mile north of the I-10/Mississippi River Bridge southward approximately 2.12 miles to South Stadium Drive, Quality Design & Construction, Inc., Gonzales, $1,561,089.15.

            East Feliciana – Construction of a new project engineer’s office and related work at the McManus Storage Facility on the west side of LA 19, .2 miles south of LA10, Cord Development Corp., Jackson, $ 310,000.

            Grading, drainage, cold planing, superpave, class II base course, roadway rein. mesh, and related work on LA 67 from South Gross Road northward approximately 5 miles to LA 10, and on LA 67 from LA 10 westward to North Kernan Street, Diamond B. Construction Co., LLC, Alexandria, $2,136,661.26.

            Jefferson, Orleans – Access improvements to the Crescent City Connection Bridges 1 & 2 includes access ladders, lifelines, walkways, lifting blocks, touch-up painting, and related work on US 90 over the Mississippi River between New Orleans and Gretna, C.E.C., Inc., Lafayette, $965,000.

            Structural and drainage repairs to the Crescent City Connection Bridges 1 & 2 and approach structures, and related work on US 90 over the Mississippi River between New Orleans and Gretna, C.E.C., Inc., Lafayette, $1,259,490.

            Lafayette – Vermillion River bridge redecking includes removal and replacement of bridge deck, stringers, diagonal bracing, and related work on LA 3073 from approximately 1.52 miles southeast of US 167 southeastward approximately .085 miles to a point approximately .565 miles northwest of LA 339, C.E.C., Inc., Lafayette, $481,508.45.

            Orleans – Crescent City Connection Intersection Improvements include cold planing, class II base course, drainage, superpave, concrete pavement, landscaping, concrete spans bridge, traffic signalization, and related work on US 90 from approximately .054 mile east of Annunciation Road southeastward approximately .38 mile to a point approximately .171 mile southeast of Tchoupitoulas St., Command Construction, LLC, Metairie, $1,395,551.53.

            Elevated ramp end leveling with superpave and related work at various points on I-610 from Paris Ave eastward approximately one mile to Elysian Fields, and on I-10 from South Prieur Street eastward approximately 3.7 miles to Tulane Avenue, Boh Bros. Construction Co., LLC, New Orleans, $383,294.05.

            St. Tammany – Grading, cold planing, base course, superpave, and related work on US 11 from a point approximately .08 mile north of I-12 underpass northward approximately .717 mile to a point .08 mile north of Industrial Park entrance, Boh Bros. Construction Co., LLC, New Orleans, $325,575.20.

            Pavement rehabilitation, pavement patching, class II base course, concrete pavement, superpave overlay, superpave, shoulders, and related work on the I-59 northbound ramp from I-12 eastbound, Barriere Construction Co., LLC, New Orleans, $669,669.55.

            Tangipahoa – Pavement patching, drainage, cold planing, cement shoulders, asphaltic surface treatment, concrete overlay, and related work on LA 22 from Dunson Road eastward approximately 5.624 miles to LA 445, Diamond B. Construction Co., LLC, Alexandria, $1,699,794.46.

            Grading, drainage, cold planing, pavement patching, pavement widening, superpave, and related work on LA 1065 from US 190 northward approximately 3.06 miles to LA 1064, Diamond B. Construction Co., LLC, Alexandria, $788,188.97.
