TRAFFIC SHIFT: I-20/Tarbutton Rd. Interchange, Lincoln Parish

RUSTON – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces an important traffic shift and milestone for the $25.5 million I-20 interchange at Tarbutton Road project in Ruston, Lincoln Parish.

Beginning on Friday, April 3, 2020, both the north and south service roads that run parallel to the interstate between the new Tarbutton Road interchange and LA 544 (Tech Drive) will convert to one-way traffic only.

Traffic on the service roads will match the direction of the adjacent lanes of I-20, so the south service road (S. Service Road W.) will transition to eastbound traffic only and the north service road (Woodward Ave.) will convert to westbound.

Additionally, Tarbutton Road south of I-20 will also be opened to traffic. Tarbutton Road north and south of the interstate has been realigned and reconstructed as part of this project to improve congestion and traffic flow through the area.

This transition will occur weather permitting.

Law enforcement and digital message boards will be on site to assist in directing motorists once this traffic shift is in place.

Permanent signage and striping will be installed prior to the shift.

This project also creates a new interstate interchange, providing vital access to I-20 from the commercial and residential areas in this part of Ruston. The on and off-ramps have been constructed but are still closed to traffic at this time.

The Tarbutton Road overpass – which was removed and replaced - was opened to traffic in October 2019, a milestone for the project.

The entire interchange project is anticipated to be complete in late Spring/early Summer 2020.
