NEW ORLEANS, La. – Due to severe winter weather, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that the Algiers-to-Canal Street ferry service has been suspended due to ice formation on the vessel and passenger walks.

The vessel made its final trips from Algiers Point at 2:45 p.m. and from Canal at 3 p.m. Earlier today, roadways leading to the Chalmette ferry landing developed ice because of freezing temperatures and precipitation causing service to be suspended. An announcement will be made when all ferry service can safely resume.
