EMERGENCY BRIDGE CLOSURE: LA 471, Dartigo Creek Bridges, Grant Parish

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises the public that, effective immediately, the bridges over Dartigo Creek on LA 471 in Grant Parish will be closed to all through traffic.

The road closure is located 5.7 miles north of the US71/LA 4741 intersection. The southernmost bridge over Dartigo Creek has been damaged due to a vehicular accident and can no longer safely accommodate through traffic.

The brides are already scheduled to be demolished and replaced. Therefore, the road will remain closed until the new bridges are completed.

The $3.6 million project is expected to last until late 2020, with progress dependent on weather conditions. The public is advised to remain alert to construction signs and follow the marked detours.

Permit/Detour: Detour signage will be installed as soon as possible. Motorists are advised to follow the designated detour routes described below.

LA 471 Northbound Detour:
Northbound LA 471 traffic will be detoured north onto US 71 towards Aloha. Traffic will the take a right onto LA 1240 towards Verda. Traffic will then be detoured right onto LA 122 and continue onto LA 471.

LA 471 Southbound Detour:
Southbound LA 471 traffic will be detoured onto LA 122 towards Verda. Traffic will then take a left onto LA 1240 towards Aloha. Traffic will then be detoured left onto US 71 and back onto LA 471.

Safety Reminder:

All construction activity is weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. DOTD appreciates the motoring public’s patience and reminds drivers to please exercise caution when traveling through work zone areas and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
