LTRC is excited to offer a Highway Capacity Software Hands-On Application workshop on February 6, 2020. Please read the course description below and follow the link to complete your registration.
There is a minimum of 15 participants and a maximum of 24; so your registration will be confirmed prior to the date of the workshop.
This training course presents software demonstrations and hands-on applications using the Highway Capacity Software (HCS7) procedures. Step-by-step instruction for coding analyses will be provided for each software module to review example datasets and generate others field-by-field from information provided. File open and save as well as printing options will be covered.
Overview - HCS Overview, Loading, Main Menu, General Interaction
Freeways - Freeway Segments (Basic, Weaving, Merge & Diverge); Freeway Facilities (Multiple Segments & Time Periods)
Highways- Highway Segments (Multilane Highways & Two-Lane Highways)
Unsignal - Unsignalized Intersections (TWSC, AWSC, Roundabouts & Corridors)
Signals- Signalized Intersections (Demands, Adjustments, Phasing &Timing); Operations, Detailed Data, Phase Duration & Multiple-Period Analysis
Streets - Urban Streets (Segments, Free-Flow Speed, Access Points & Optimization; Ramp Terminals and Alternative Intersections (DDI, DLT, RCUT, MUT)
Instructor:
William M. Sampson, P.E. is a faculty member of the University of Florida (UF) Department of Civil Engineering with over 40 years of experience. He is the Director of the McTrans Center and also is responsible for technical assistance and ongoing development of the Highway Capacity Software (HCS). He teaches two graduate courses (Traffic Engineering and Highway Capacity Analysis) at UF. He is a former member of the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Highway Capacity and Quality of Service (HCQS) committee, still serving on several subcommittees.
