DOTD announces the start of a Road Construction Project on US 167 (Johnston St.) from Maurice to Ambassador Caffery Pkwy, Vermilion/Lafayette Parishes

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces that a road construction project estimated at $14.1 million will begin at Maurice and proceed northward to Ambassador Caffery Parkway. The work will be separated into 3 sections of work. The project is part of an Access Management (Left Turn Lanes) project which consists of installing 33 Left Turn Lanes at certain areas of US 167 (Johnston Street).

Section 1 will be installed first and will start at Maurice and continue northward to Aqueduct Drive just south of LA 733 (E. Broussard Road), construction will begin in Section 1 on November 25. The work is estimated to take place on weekdays from 6:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., weather permitting.

There will be alternating lane closures throughout the duration of the Section 1 work with minimal delays expected.

The road will be open to regular traffic with a 12-foot lane restriction on oversized loads passing through the work zone for the duration of Section 1 work.

Emergency vehicles will have access to the area.

The project will include includes milling of existing surfacing, reconstruction of subgrade and base course, drainage installation and other related work.

Section 1 of this project should be completed in Summer of 2020, after Section 1 is complete, the work will begin on Section 2.
