LANE CLOSURES: US 79 from US 80 to Texas state line, Caddo Parish
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises motorists that beginning today, Tuesday, October 8, 2019, intermittent lane closures will be in place on US 79 from its intersection with US 80 in Greenwood to the Texas state line in Caddo Parish.
These lane closures are related to a $8.2 million project to patch, mill and overlay the roadway, as well as remove approximately 70 trees that are in the highway ‘clear zone’ and are deemed a safety hazard.
Work is currently underway to remove the trees in the 'clear zone', improving safety along the corridor. The contractor will then proceed with the patch, mill and overlay.
The intermittent lane closures will take place throughout the duration of the project, which is expected to be complete in late Spring/early Summer 2020. Construction progress depends on weather conditions.
