MANDEVILLE, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announces an update on the project to widen U.S. Highway 190 from La. 22 to Lonesome Road in St. Tammany Parish, an $11.3 million capacity improvement project.

On November 23, 2013, traffic was shifted to begin Phase IB of construction. Since then, DOTD has monitored the area and traffic has been flowing smoothly through the corridor. Photos are attached of the current roadway.

There was no construction activity last week due to inclement weather and the Thanksgiving holiday. Construction activity resumed on Monday, December 2.

This week’s construction activities are leading up to the installation of subsurface drainage for Phase IB of the project and include the following.

• The asphalt subcontractor performing salvage milling operations to the existing westbound roadway over the entire project limits.
• Crews de-watering the large retention pond in front of Pelican Village shopping center and receiving subsurface drainage deliveries to the job site.

All planned construction activities are weather-dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through the construction zone and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
