Please be advised that the following Bridge Design Technical Memorandum (BDTM) has been approved by the Bridge Design Engineer Administrator and published on the DOTD Bridge Design Section website (http://wwwsp.dotd.la.gov/Inside_LaDOTD/Divisions/Engineering/Bridge_Design/Pages/Technical-Memoranda.aspx) for implementation. The BDTM index has been updated and posted as well.
BDTM.87 – Bridge Design and Evaluation Manual (BDEM) Revision No. 9
This revision to the BDEM includes:
- Incorporation of the conversion of all Bridge “Special Details” into “Standard Plans” by the deletion of all references to “Special Details” throughout
- Revision to the index numbering system used to organize the Bridge Standards (see Part I Chapter 9-4)
- Revision to the typical organization of project plan sets, to illustrate that many of the “new” Standard Plans will now be placed throughout the plan set in logical order, rather than simply grouped at the end of the plan set (see Part III Chapter 1-55)
- Miscellaneous other minor corrections
This email notification is distributed to DOTD in-house bridge designers, consultant firms on the DOTD solicitation list, and the people on the cc list. If you are listed as the Principle-In-Charge for a consultant firm, please inform your bridge designers of this BDTM.
