EXTENDED I-10 Eastbound between Mile Markers 114.5 and 117.0, St. Martin Parish – Lane and Ramp Closures
Friday, August 02, 2019 at 4:31:20 PM
UPDATE: This closure has been extended to Sunday, August 4 at 8:00 p.m. until Tuesday, August 6 at 6:00 a.m. Thank you for your patience.

The left, inside lane of I-10 eastbound, located between mile markers 114.5 and 115.0 (west of the LA 347 overpass); and, between mile markers 116.5 and 117.0 (west of the Atchafalaya Floodway Basin Bridge) will be closed beginning Saturday, August 3, at 8:00 p.m. until Sunday, August 4, at 6:00 a.m., in St. Martin Parish, weather permitting.

The contractor for this project will perform a traffic shift which will move the eastbound I-10 traffic onto the inside lanes of the westbound roadway. This will result in a four-lane, two-way traffic configuration separated by concrete barriers. This shift will happen in stages in order to complete all the work necessary.

Stage 1: The left, inside lane of the eastbound roadway will be closed to traffic. Traffic will be restricted to the right, outside lane of the eastbound roadway. This stage will also require the closure of the eastbound on and off ramps at LA 347 in order to install the necessary transition striping.

Stage 2: Once all necessary work has been completed on Stage 1, eastbound traffic will be shifted to the westbound roadway. At that time, the eastbound traffic will be restricted to the left lane in order that the contractor may complete striping the right lane.

The detours for this ramp closure are as follows:

• Eastbound traffic on I-10 wanting to exit on LA 347 will continue eastbound on I-10 to Exit 121 – LA 3177 (Butte La Rose) and return on Westbound I-10 to the LA 347 interchange.

• Traffic on LA 347 wanting to go east on I-10 will take the LA 347 westbound on ramp to I-10 and then continue to Exit 109 – LA 328 (Breaux Bridge) then go eastbound I-10.

When all striping work has been completed both eastbound lanes will be opened to traffic.

This work is related to the FASTLANE I-10 widening project (State Project Number H.003014). This $54.7 million project will involve pavement replacement within the existing lanes in each direction for 2.7 miles along I-10 from LA 347 to the base of the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge. An additional lane will be added in the westbound direction.

With the help of the FASTLANE grant, this is the second of three projects to reconstruct and widen the I-10 corridor from I-49 to the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge.

The project began in July 2017 and is estimated for completion in 2020.
