UPDATE: LANE CLOSURES: I-20 pedestrian overpass removal, Caddo Parish


UPDATE: Due to the potential for inclement weather, the nightly single lane closures on I-20 related to the pedestrian overpass removal project in Shreveport have been rescheduled and will now take place on the nights of May 17-20, 2019 at the following times:

Eastbound:
Monday: 7:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.
Friday: 10:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.
Saturday: 8:00 p.m. - 9:00 a.m.
Sunday: 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 a.m.

Westbound:
Monday: 8:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.
Friday: 9:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.
Saturday: 9:00 p.m. - 9:00 a.m.
Sunday: 8:00 p.m. - 9:00 a.m.

These lane closures are located approximately 0.5 miles west of LA 526 (West Bert Kouns Industrial Loop) interchange, and will be performed weather permitting.

UPDATE: DOTD advises motorists that I-20 eastbound and westbound in Shreveport, Caddo Parish will have nightly single lane closures for the purpose of replacing a median cable barrier strip and removing concrete barriers related to the pedestrian overpass removal project.

These lane closures will take place on the nights of May 18-21, 2019 at the following times:

Eastbound:
Monday to Thursday: 7:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.
Friday: 10:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.
Saturday: 8:00 p.m. - 9:00 a.m.
Sunday: 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 a.m.

Westbound:
Monday to Thursday: 8:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.
Friday: 9:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.
Saturday: 9:00 p.m. - 9:00 a.m.
Sunday: 8:00 p.m. - 9:00 a.m.

These lane closures are located approximately 0.5 miles west of LA 526 (West Bert Kouns Industrial Loop) interchange, and will be performed weather permitting.

UPDATE: The I-20 lane and interstate closures previously scheduled for May 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th in Caddo Parish related to the pedestrian overpass removal have been CANCELED.

The work that was planned to be executed on those dates was finished ahead of schedule during previous overnight closures. The majority of the damaged pedestrian overpass has been dismantled and removed, with a small portion of of the structure on the south side of I-20 left to be removed.

UPDATE: Due to forecasted inclement weather, the I-20 nighttime closures have been RESCHEDULED as follows:
  • Full eastbound closure: Saturday, May 4th, 11 p.m. – 5 a.m. (Detour Exit 5)
  • Full westbound closure: Sunday, May 5th, 10 p.m. – 6 a.m. (Detour Exit 8)
Additionally, the following closures will be required to clean up remaining debris from the median once the overpass is removed, as well as take down the remaining portion of the center column in the median of the interstate.
  • Single lane eastbound closures: Tuesday, May 7th, 7 p.m. - 6 a.m. and Wednesdsay, May 8th, 7 p.m. - 6 a.m.
  • Full westbound closures: Thursday, May 9th, 10 p.m. - 6 a.m. and Friday, May 10th, 10 p.m. - 6 a.m.
This work is related to the removal of the damaged pedestrian overpass on I-20 in Caddo Parish located approximately 0.5 miles west of LA 526 (West Bert Kouns Industrial Loop) interchange.

UPDATE: I-20 nighttime closures for the actual removal of the pedestrian overpass have been updated as follows:
  • Full eastbound closure: Thursday, May 2nd, 10 p.m. – 6 a.m. (Detour Exit 5)
  • Full westbound closure: Friday, May 3rd, 10 p.m. – 6 a.m. (Detour Exit 8)
The eastbound closure scheduled for tonight, April 25th, WILL proceed as scheduled. This closure is to continue prep work for the overpass removal.

UPDATE: Due to forecasted inclement weather, the eastbound I-20 nighttime closure previously scheduled for Wednesday, April 24th has been RESCHEDULED for Thursday, April 25th, from 11:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

This work is related to the removal of the pedestrian overpass on I-20 in Caddo Parish located approximately 0.5 miles west of LA 526 (West Bert Kouns Industrial Loop) interchange.

Two full nightly closures of I-20 will be required as work begins. This work is to install temporary barriers on the roadway shoulder and prep the bridge spans for removal. The scheduled closures are as follows:
  • Full westbound closure: Tuesday, April 23rd, 10 p.m. – 6 a.m. (Detour Exit 8)
  • Full eastbound closure: Wednesday, April 24th, 11 p.m. – 5 a.m. (Detour Exit 5)
Two more nightly interstate closures will be required for the actual removal of the bridge. Those closures are as follows:
  • Full westbound closure: Monday, April 29th, 10 p.m. – 6 a.m. (Detour Exit 8)
  • Full eastbound closure: Tuesday, April 30th, 11 p.m. – 5 a.m. (Detour Exit 5)
Drivers are encouraged to pay attention to advance warning signs as they approach the construction zone, slow down, and be aware of workers and their equipment.

All work will be performed WEATHER PERMITTING.
