Baton Rouge, LA – Today, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced that all repairs to the joints on the northbound LA 1 Intracoastal Bridge are complete. There is no longer a need for metal plates, and there are no more scheduled lane closures. The contractor will continue with the remaining work on the southbound bridge beginning tonight.

Motorists can expect alternating lane closures on the southbound bridge from tonight at 7 p.m. to tomorrow morning at 4 a.m. Additional lane closures will occur from Saturday, April 13 at 7 p.m. until Monday, April 15 at 4 a.m. During the day on Sunday, April 14, the contractor will implement the traffic plan used when the southbound bridge was under the recent emergency closure. Louisiana State Police will control a temporary traffic signal on LA 1 southbound in order to give motorists exiting I-10 westbound the right of way. Next week, nighttime lane closures are scheduled for Monday night, April 15 through Thursday night, April 18 between 7 p.m. and 4 a.m. each evening. All work and lane closures are dependent on weather, and there will be no lane closures over the Easter weekend.

All work on the southbound bridge is anticipated to take two weeks to complete, weather permitting.

DOTD appreciates your patience and reminds you to please drive with caution through construction sites, and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
