Baton Rouge, La. – The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced today that the Plaquemine ferry will run extended hours on Saturday and Sunday, January 26 and 27, due to the Sunshine Bridge closure this weekend.

The ferry schedule for the weekend is the following:

  • Boat 1 – 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Boat 2 – 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Normal ferry hours will resume on Monday morning.

The Sunshine Bridge will be closed to all traffic from 6 a.m. on Saturday until 5 a.m. on Monday so crews can repair and replace structural components damaged during the crane collision in October.

During the bridge’s closure this weekend, commuters are reminded to take advantage of Commuter Krewe (https://www.commuterkrewe.la/). In addition to the Plaquemine ferry, motorists may also use the Veterans Memorial Bridge to cross the river.
