DOTD announces project to rehab US 80 (Texas Street) Bridge over Red River, Caddo & Bossier Parishes
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces a project to rehabilitate the US 80 (Texas Street) Bridge over the Red River in Caddo and Bossier Parishes.
The $15.5 million project went to bid in November 2018, with the contract awarded to Intech Contracting, LLC. It will provide a number of structural repairs, including the bridge deck and joints, pedestrian crosswalk repairs, and repairs to other steel components. The bridge will also be sandblasted and painted, which helps prevent corrosion.
Work is expected to begin in mid-March 2019, following the contractor’s assembly period, with an anticipated completion of Summer 2020.
In order to safely complete the work, lane closures and traffic phasing on the bridge will be required. To assist with traffic management, a temporary protected left turn signal (left turn arrow) has been installed on the Shreveport side of the bridge at the intersection of Texas Street and Spring Street.
Updates will be issued via MyDOTD as the project progresses.
The Texas Street Bridge - also known as the Long-Allen Bridge - was built in 1934, and serves approximately 11,900 vehicles per day.
