St. Martin Parish- The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announces that beginning on January 19, motorist will see a significant traffic switch along I-10 at LA 328 in Breaux Bridge. Those traveling westbound will be directed from the existing two outside lanes to the two newly constructed inside lanes. This will begin near mile marker 109 and continue for approximately five miles. Traffic will be diverted back onto the existing outside roadway lanes near mile marker 104.
During this time, the LA 328 on and off ramps will be closed from 1 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19 to 6 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 21.
The advised detours are as follows:
• Motorists traveling westbound will be able to pass LA 328 and turnaround at the Louisiana Ave. interchange, merge back onto I-10 and then exit at the LA 328 eastbound ramp.
• Motorist exiting LA 328 traveling westbound will merge onto I-10 eastbound to turnaround at the LA 347 interchange to head westbound.

The $124.7 million I-10 widening project will involve widening a 7.11-mile section from I-49 to Breaux Bridge. The project will include pavement replacement within the existing lanes and the construction of one additional lane in each direction along I-10 from I-49 to LA 328 (Breaux Bridge).
The project began in May 2017 and is estimated for completion in fall 2019. All construction activity is weather dependent and may be rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. DOTD appreciates the motoring public’s patience and reminds drivers to please exercise caution when traveling through work zone areas and be on the lookout for work crews and their equipment.
